Shamelessly good

Let’s take a moment to discuss one of the greatest shows on TV at this time, Shameless. Sound a little bit unfamiliar? Well, it no longer will after this post. In fact, Shameless will become your new weekly addiction.

Airing on Showtime every Sunday, Shameless focuses on the complicated lives of the Gallagher family. Sounds like your average TV show right, nothing special? Wrong. Shameless is as original as TV shows come these days, considering it is based off a British show of the same name.

Now what makes the Gallagher’s so different from any other fictional family? For starters, the alcoholic father Frank, played brilliantly by William H. Macy, chooses to live with his girlfriend instead of his six children, leaving the eldest child Fiona to fill in this parental gap. Naturally chaos ensues.

That is the other aspect of Shameless that makes it so good, the chaos that occurs in each episode. Whether the siblings are trying to get back baby Liam from some men Frank owes money to or second oldest Lip attempts to win over his best friend Karen through sex, you never really know what is going to happen in an episode of Shameless. Despite all the craziness that has happened in each episode, Shameless never repeats storylines or becomes boring.

However, the number one thing I love most about Shameless, besides how entertaining and unique it is, is the fact that it is partially shot in the greatest city of the world, Chicago. Yes, you read that correctly, Chicago. Granted, I guess I am a bit biased because I’m from the area, but nevertheless, Chicago is the greatest city on the planet. Every time I watch Shameless and see that Chicago skyline in the background, my heart skips a beat. There is nothing better than seeing the place you love showcased for all of its magnificence.

I understand that not everyone has access to Showtime to catch Shameless, especially in college, but c’mon get creative and find a way to watch this great show, it’s Shamelessly fun.
